Av'-ous liu la Gâzette du Sé? – Have you read the JEP?

Av'-ous ouï les dreines nouvelles? (Have you heard the latest news?) Au jour d'aniet (nowadays) there are lots of sources of înformâtion (information).

Eune gâzette is a newspaper, and the JEP has been known as la Gâzette du Sé since the days when it was simply the Evening Post. It was publishing des pièches en Jèrriais (pieces in Jèrriais) even before la Preunmié Dgèrre Mondiale (the First World War). Achteu (now) it's patchie (packed), or even stoffée (stuffed), with d's articl'yes (articles), des portraits (pictures), des rapports (reports), d's annonces (ads) and many people check les naîssances, les mathiages et l's entèrrements (births, marriages and funerals). S'nou n'est pon mentionné dans l's entèrrements, i' faut r'aller au travas! (if one isn't mentioned in the “funerals”, one has to go back to work)

You may read des magâsîns (magazines) full of d'la caqu'téthie entouor les célébrités (celebrity gossip), especially if you're into l's opéras d'savon (soap operas). In that case you'll be cliuté (glued) à la télévîsion (to the television).

Tchi qui a la téléc'mande? (who's got the remote?) There are lots of stâtions (channels or stations), especially if you're câblié (on cable). Ès stâtions d'câbl'ye et d'satellite (on cable and satellite stations) you can get les dreines séries Améthitchaines (the latest American series), but we'll have to wait a bit for les stâtions digitales (digital stations). But perhaps you're more into les vidgos (videos).

For other media, you'll first have to dêtouônner la télé (turn off the telly). Dêtouônner means to turn off, but don't be surprised if you hear some people say souitchi hors (switch off) – né v'là-t-i' d'l'angliaîchinn'nie (that's “Englishment” for you)!

BBC Radio Jèrri et Chent-Trais FM (BBC Radio Jersey and 103FM) offer la mûsique (music) and la convèrsâtion (talk). La Lettre Jèrriaise est transmînse (is broadcast) on Saturdays at eune heuthe chînq dé l'arlévée (1:05pm) and is èrpétée (repeated) on Tuesday afternoons. Or you can dêchèrgi (download) La Lettre Jèrriaise from lé site d'Ithangnie (the website) of BBC Radio Jèrri à autchun temps duthant la s'maine (at any time during the week). Ch'est d'l'audgo russelant (it's streaming audio).

La Gâzette du Sé a un site d'Ithangnie étout (the JEP has a website too). Clyiquez sus (click on) www.thisisjersey.com, but unfortunately you'll only get a 404 if you try www.chennechinestjerri.com!

N'oubliez pon d'èrgarder l's heuthes des programmes dans la Gâzette du Sé! (don't forget to look up programme times in the JEP)
