A CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE OF ST FRANCIS

CHARITY:

Funds raised from the retiring collection were sent through Franciscan Aid to the Mercy Home for Boys at Tiruchirapalli. In this very poor area of South India, Brother Percy looks after 45 boys in a Home with no stable income, relying entirely on charity. He wrote:

"Besides this home, we have started a group of young boys which Is called "Youth Association for Peace and Justice". They gather every Sunday to discuss something to help poor families. This year 20 poor families were selected to be helped with the repair of the mud walls and thatched roofs of their houses. The daily wage of these families barely suffices to buy their food, two poor meals, and our help with the renovation of their homes was much needed."
