Les Fieillets Jèrriais

Salutâtions tout l’monde..appraîchant eune s’crèche ou non? Thank you to those who attended last month’s meeting. We looked at the new words Geraint had found and discussed their possible meanings but we await his ‘délibéthâtions’.
During a July weekend, we were treated to the best West Show ever with many stands, shows and exhibitions. There was even more for children this time, with pony rides and open cabs in the tractors, operating diggers and fire engines, including the hoses.
The Jèrriais stall was well stocked with publications, resource materials and T-shirts and sales were good. L’Office du Jèrriais arranged it all and were very grateful for the volunteers from L’Office and the Section who publicised the language during the two days.
We also sang our Jèrriais and French songs in the choir which had a half hour period in which to entertain the public, some of whom joined in the choruses.
Some of us also went to the medieval festival of La Fête des Remparts in Dinan which was wonderful, but apart from meeting Jan from Guernsey, and trying some Jèrriais on people we met, we found no evidence of Medieval French during the weekend.
Our next meeting will be on Wed. Aug. 4th. in the A.M. Room at 8.00pm when we shall continue with the literature selections and language practice.
