Les Fieillets Jèrriais

Mai 2010

Salutâtions tout l'monde.

The main news this month is a request from L'Assembliée d'Jèrriais for a reading of one or two poems from the Laurie Huelin collection we are working on, between films at their May meeting on Friday 21st. May after 7.30pm at Trinity parish Hall. This can be discussed at our May meeting next week.

We are reminded that arrangements for La Fête Nouormande are progressing and several have made plans to attend. We have also had a letter from Denise Veron whose book was published some two weeks ago and details will be given at our next meeting.

….and did you know that Maûfant means bad mud because of the extensive flooding due to the brick earth deposits underneath which caused the Copp Brickworks to locate there ….and that the present French connection with the fant is la fange meaning mire, mud or filth?
This will be held on Wednesday next, May 5th, at 8. 00pm in the AM Room at La Société, when we shall continue with the cataloguing of the literature collection and discuss the possible poetry reading(s) for L'Assembliée.

À la préchaine,

John Clarke (Président)

Ralph Nichols (Ségrétaithe)
