Lé temps dêdgàpi acouo. Févri est presqu’finni! Merci bein des fais à touos lé monde pouor vos suggestions pouor notr’ fouerré d’êtalage dans lé musée, à la rêunion d’Févri, et pouor l’arveue des suggestions au sujet d’un nouvé nom pouor lé Service des Musées Jèrriais. I’y’avait un tas d’d’bat, hardi vâliabl’ye et hardi bein èrchu.
Ch’est difficile illustrer eune langue, mais i’y’avait accord qué notr’ êtalage présentethait lé Jèrriais dé frais minnes.
Eune carte tchi la montre à côté des autres langues des minnorités dé N.W. Europe.
Des èrsources sèrvi à înstruithe et apprendre, dé temps passé jusqu’à ch’t’heu.
Des photographes en couleu, d’la flore et d’la faune, et p’t-être des choses dé notr’ île.
Auprès l’arveue d’la sélection des nouvieaux noms tchi’fûtent prié par Mike Day pouor lé J.M.S. Tony suggéthit "Lé Dget" dans le sens dé faithe lé dget on d’être au dget dé notr’héthitage. La liste a’té env’yé au Directeu.
J’avons èrchu un abrégé des rêsultats des ercherches au sujet d’l’împlyicâtion dé l’intéthêt récent en Jèrriais, présenté pouor un examen au Département Sociologique à l’Université d’Aarhus en Dannemar tchi f’thait sèrvi comme support dans l’êducâtion. Tony Scott Warren étout, compliétit un excellent preunmyi petit livre dé Jèrriais întitulé Lé Neu C’min, et les autres innitiatives avanchent par d’grés.
Notr’prochaine rêunion s’sa pouor pratîtchi la langue auvec "Jèrriais est Fanne", et don, apportez vos petits-livres, Mêcrédi, 3ième Mar, 8.00 du sé, à haut, Lé C’min d’la Caûchie, (Pier Rd.); la cassette s’sa meuni.

Time is flying again: February is nearly over! Thank you to everyone who contributed suggestions for our display case in the Museum at the February meeting, and for the review of the suggestions about a new name for the Jersey Museums Service. There was much valuable and appreciated comment. Given that it is difficult to illustrate a language, it was agreed that our display would present Jèrriais in three aspects:
Via a map which shows it alongside other minority languages in N.W.Europe.
Via resources used for learning or teaching, past to present.
Via colour photographs of different flora and fauna, and possibly artefacts of our island.
After reviewing the selection of new names requested by Mike Day for the Jersey Museum Service, Tony suggested Lé Dget, to imply being "the look out" for or "on watch" over our heritage. The list has been sent to the Director.
We have received a summary of research results into "the implication of growing interest in Jèrriais", presented for examination in the Sociology Department of the University of Aarhus, Denmark which could be of use to support the education initiative. Tony Scott-Warren has also completed an excellent initial language resource booklet entitled Lé Neu C’min, and other resources developments are progressing steadily.
Our next meeting will be for language practice using "Jèrriais est Fanne"etc. so bring your booklets along on Wednesday, 3rd March, at 8.00pm to the top floor Committee Room, Société Jersiaise, 7 Pier Road. The cassette will be provided.
