Sonia Hillsdon

Sonia Hillsdon

Sonia Hillsdon is an English graduate who, after enjoying teaching her subject full-time at Chichester High School and then lecturing in English and Drama at two UK Colleges of Education, has spent the last 25 years as a free-lance teacher and writer in Jersey. So, as well as teaching English as a foreign language, she has written for the 1980's Islander Magazine, Sales Talk, Business Talk, Alderney Magazine, Normandie Magazine and Jersey Now, as well as being Music Correspondent for the Jersey Evening Post from 1980-1989, when writing books took over.

With the help of the present Société President, Philip Le Brocq, for the last 7 years Mrs Hillsdon has also encouraged local writers and artists by putting on the annual Jersey evening Homegrown at the Jersey Arts Centre.
