TO MY FELLOW, COUNTRYMEN,
LISTEN TO WHAT I SAY.

Who killed Joe Cartwright?
The Hydra-headed Monster
Of JERSEY INJUSTICE.
He was the Victim, like me as far as I can see,
Of Jersey Injustice, administered free.
Who saw him die ?
Nor BAILIFF, nor I,
Nor no mortal eye,
No man saw him die!
Who shed his blood ?
The Bailiff of Jersey.
May the Lord have mercy
On the Bailiff of Jersey!
Who “kicked out" poor old Joe
Out of his billet
In the Jersey Impôt ?
An Assembly of Asses, now off with your hats
And bow down to a Governor, Bailiff',
And twelve honest Ju-Rats.
WHY did they “kick out" poor old Joe
Out of his billet
In the Jersey Impôt ?
Because he did his duty like an honest man,
Deny it who can.
And for the honour of the British Flag
He fought like a man.
Who saved the Ecrehos ?
Was it not old Joe
Who nailed his colours to the mast?
His name will live while time shall last.
Am I right ? was it Joe Cartwright ?
Or was it the runaway Knight?
Alas, and alas, for the untimely, end
Of my sole and faithful friend !
I feel the grasp of your horny hand,
When last we met and parted.
Good-bye, old friend, we shall meet again
WITHOUT SIR GEORGE, the hollow hearted.
Down with all Traitors
and
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!
