Reminiscences - Jonathan Houguez

1998 - Supermarket Sweep

This involved about 15 of the chaps cruising down to College Hill stores at 15:15pm. Someone would start a conversation with the old dear who ran it or show her their Art coursework. Whilst this was taking place the rest of us would be busy stuffing our bags full of Mars bars, coke and space raiders, or if it was a Friday maybe a few bottles of wine. I also remember Mcinness getting a few packs of silky reds (never knew he smoked!?), and Baldwin the compulsary 25 red royals! This went on for a few weeks until Tobin and woodley got busted by the cops outside Dorothy perkins. The cops confronted the rest of us down the Weighbridge, and I was aslo to join them in the back of the Pig van after cleverly asking one of the cops 'What happens if we own up?' We had to write a letter of appology and the goodies were conviscated. We never stepped foot inside the shop (which is now a house) again!! Those were the days!!!
