Les Fieillets Jèrriais
Juilet 2005
Bouônjour à matîn tout l'monde. That's assuming you get your post in the morning!
Last month's meeting got us back on track after an enjoyable Fête Normande at La Foire de Jersey. We discussed the format of the longer three day event, the pros and cons and any problems, for example, the fewer contributions from Normandy and Guernsey in a longer programme. The presence of twelve French Trader vans and accordian music from Don Dolbel added to the ambience of the occasion and gave us almost maximum publicity. Two or three dances were added this time, outside the marquee, and several members of the public joined in and seemed to enjoy themselves. Many books and booklets were also sold.
On Saturday, July 2nd. there is the Fête at Samarès Manor and the Students are performing songs and dances between 12 12.30pm, just before lunch, so come along and support us and have an enjoyable day at a wonderful manor in delightful grounds.
Work on the Anthology continues at a steady pace with the initial translations completed and the drafts of the author biographies in the pipe-line.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, 6
If wet, please meet at La Société at 8.00pm for the vocabulary we could have used!
