St. Saviour - St Saûveux
JEP 11/2/2000
St Saviour is the seventh and latest parish to have its Millennium stone put into place.
On Saturday the 6½ ton stone was raised by the Jersey Field Squadron at the bottom of Rue à la Dame, the lane which runs downhill from Five Oaks to Grands Vaux reservoir.
The stone will stand on land on the edge of the reservoir, donated by the Jersey New Waterworks Company. It is not the first megalith to stand at the bottom of Rue à la Dame: the road derives its name from the fairy lady who was believed to live in the prehistoric stones that once stood near by.
