St. Martin - St Martîn
Final pieces of Millennium project fall into place
The last two parish Millennium stones were lowered into place by members of the Jersey Field Squadron on Saturday.
St Martin's stone was set first at the beginning of St Catherine's Breakwater and then St Mary's granite obelisk was lowered into position behind the Priory at Devil's Hole.
The placing of these stones concludes a Millennium project that was initiated by the Société Jersiaise in 1998.
The 12 stones were donated by Ronez and each parish has been assisted by a £500 grant from the Société to prepare the sites.
A bronze plaque fixed to a smaller piece of granite next to each stone will mark its location on a map of Jersey and provide the Constable's name and a brief outline of the project.
The first stone set by the TA was St John's in May last year.
