The Fishermen's Chapel
La Chapelle ès Pêtcheurs
St. Brélade
Mural paintings in the Fishermen's Chapel, St. Brelade, have been dated to two separate periods: the third quarter of the C14th and the later painting around 1425.
It appears that the paintings were limewashed over at the time of the Reformation. Traces of the paintings reappeared and were visible in the C19th.
The paintings were rediscovered in 1915 when the plaster wall-covering was hacked off.
Full modern restoration was carried out 1982-1987.
